Madrid, October 2009. Student MBA from IE Business School, London Business School, Insead and IESE participated from October 9 to 11 in IE GreenLaces Cup, a football tournament organised by IE Business School in collaboration with GreenLaces, to promote the defence of the environment.

The event was also designed to promote the values of fair play and a sense of responsibility for the environment among young professionals from around the world. Participants have used reusable plastic bottles and is committed to contribute to the protection of the environment through actions which included to offset the carbon emissions generated by their flights to Madrid. "Our main goal is to inspire and educate young professionals on the environmental challenges of the world and what we can put in practice to defend our environment," said Jeremy Melul, who heads the project. This sports tournament is part of the social commitment of IE Business School, which currently includes the Social Impact of the school management platform. GreenLaces is an international movement created in 2008 by us soccer player Natalie Spilger, which advocates the defense of the environment by sport and enjoys the support of amateur, professional and Olympic athletes from around the world. The organization is symbolized by of green laces made from 100% recycled plastic and worn by athletes who support the initiative, including the participants of the IE Business School tournament.
